that perfect hand…

In Ocean's 11, Danny said that "the house always wins. If you play long enough, never change the stakes, then the house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet big… and then, you take the house." Here's the hand I've been dealt, sometimes it's risky and sometimes it's safe, but all the time… it's perfect. It's mine.

I’ve decided one in awhile, I am going to post lyrics to one of my favourite songs… or song of the moment, best describing how I am feeling in that time. So here’s number 1.

Does Anybody Hear Her?

She is running 100 Miles an hour
In the wrong direction
She is trying
But the canyons ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
she’s another 2 years older and she’s 3 more steps behind

Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?
Lord does anybody even know she’s going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple
with all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?

She is yearning
For shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She is searching
For a hero to ride in, to ride in and save the day
And then walks in her prince charming and he knows just what to say
A momentary lapse of reason and she gives herself away

If judgement looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Who can’t see past her scarlet letter
And we never even met her

Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?
Lord does anybody even know she’s going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple with all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?

*I am fine… I just related to this song on many occasions that now, I love it!

  1. Who sings it? I don’t think I know that song.

  2. “Does ANybody Hear Her” by Casting Crowns… of their Lifesong disc

  3. Hey Kate,
I really enjoy reading your blog, it is pretty entertaining but you should really consider changing the colour scheme. Pink and black is cool i guess, but it is a little ackward to try and read at work without detection… I still manage i suppose but if only my cubicle was in a better spot, it wouldn’t be such a problem. ummm yeah. good day.

    Your Friend,

    Brian b.
