that perfect hand…

In Ocean's 11, Danny said that "the house always wins. If you play long enough, never change the stakes, then the house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet big… and then, you take the house." Here's the hand I've been dealt, sometimes it's risky and sometimes it's safe, but all the time… it's perfect. It's mine.

“Have you ever wondered what marks our timing? If one life can really make an impact on the world? Or if the choices we make matter? Sometimes in order to move forward, you have to go back. Maybe even just by a few minutes. Have you ever wondered what marks our timing? If one life can really make an impact on the world? Or if the choices we make matter? I believe they do. And I believe that one man can change many lives… for better, or worse.”

It’s a secret where this comes from…and what it’s directed towards. Kinda like information held tightly in the crevice of the soul.

But I do wonder about that old cliché about ‘the world would be a different place if you hadn’t been in it’. I’d really like to know how I am going to leave it.

I wonder why some things have been trusted in my hands. I wonder what more things will come to fill them up.

I wonder what happens when dreams don’t come true. I wonder what will happen when I take my driver’s test.

I wonder if I’d be my friend.

Hahaha. Maybe it’s in the water.

  1. Dear Kat-man-doo
This is a response to your Queery about that old cliche “the world would be a different place if you hadn’t been in it”
I’ve lived in Calgary for 5 years and have met a handful of random people however nothing really stuck. So in August 2006, this was my prayer.
    Dear God
I already know how lucky I am to be in this world. I have a wonderful family, great friends, and someone who loves me. But I ask of you just one thing. Can I please meet that one person I was destined to be friends with. The one I can laugh with, share with, and no from the first moments I meet her, she will be my friend forever.
Well Kate, shortly after that prayer, you started to work at ATB. So yes you made my world different by being in it.
    Thanks

  2. Kate, seriously…you’re hilarious!
Only you would be thinking and wondering so many things like this. Ok, that’s not true. I do agree with what you said at first though…….talking about 1 man (or women) making a difference in many people’s lives and that our choices do matter and can make a huge difference in the end and a sometimes a big impact on our lives and other peoples. I guess we just have to put our lives in God’s hands and trust in Him and in reality God works through us and in us so no matter what we do it comes from God. We’ve been reading Hebrews in our small group Bible study here and I am really starting to understand a lot more and have made a lot of realizations from it. You should read it….if you haven’t in a while, you’ll enjoy what it has to say. But some stuff is hard to understand and grasp a hold of the meaning, if it wasn’t for John Piper I would be lost. Look him up, he’s a good preacher!

    Talk to yo later, Louise
